We live in strange times in so many ways. As far as music goes, where once it was hugely valued, so many now wouldn't even consider paying for it. I've heard people say "Oh I love this song" and then go on to say how they never buy anything, they listen to everything on Spotify or Youtube for free. Because they can.
To those that do support music and help it to survive, you are making the difference between survival or not to independent musicians, and helping to remind the world there is something better than the endless "X factor".
